We made it out to San Antonio this weekend to see the Norths. They're doing well and enjoyed spending some time doting on their great-granddaughter. Elizabeth wowed them with her newly developed "peek a boo" skills (turns out the cloth napkins at PF Chang's are the perfect size and weight for the game) and her ability to wave bye-bye. She doesn't really get the point of waving bye-bye of course and it takes a full thirty seconds of arm-flapping to get her to reciprocate, but it's cute when she does join in.
Yesterday we dropped E off with our friend Linnea and her roommates for a girls' day out while Christina and I escaped to the Alamo to watch Spider-Man 3. Apparently she was a hit with the South Austin coffee shop crowd, and Linnea's dog Jackson tolerated her company, even if she did draw some attention away from him.
Thursday we'll start a long weekend by driving out to Alpine, Texas. We figured we'd better see some of the "rest" of Texas before it gets too hot and before the summer fills up with other obligations, the way it tends to do. The McDonald Observatory is out that way, as is Big Bend National Park, among other things. We'll take lots of pictures of course.
