For those who haven't heard, Christina was awarded a fellowship this week to work part time for the next year with a K-12 science teacher, providing support for matters marine-science related. She'll also be working this coming year as a post-doc for her old mentor, Gary. Details of this latter part have yet to be worked out, but even with just the fellowship, it's a step up from the low-income world of being a grad student.
I'm hoping that some of the stressors in our lives will be removed with the completion of grad school hell. I'm not dumb enough to think that new ones won't be introduced, but it would be nice to have a brief period of recuperation to get our heads together before the next big thing.
I'm reminded of a quote from
Peter's Friends:
"It's like kindergarten, school, university...
black hole."
Of course, then there's my other favorite quote from the same movie:
"I think adults are just children who owe money."
Branagh made sure he had all the best lines in that film.
