Verizon - we hates it my precious
After the pain of getting through on the phone to Verizon and allowing them to inform me that it would cost $55 just to move my service from one house to another, I decided to give them the old heave-ho. $36 a month is just too much to pay for the ability to dial out on my Tivo, when Vonage will do the same thing for ten bucks less a month and give me free voice mail and 500 free minutes of long distance a month. Of course, I have to ditch the old number and accept an Orlando area code for a few months (they promise Tampa Bay area codes by the end of March), but I don't think we'll be using that line for incoming calls much. Cell phone usage has just gotten too cheap. (Thanks, free Sprint-to-Sprint calling!)
One other advantage to Vonage is that, theoretically, I'll never have to connect or disconnect phone service to a house again. It all goes through whatever broadband service to which I have access -- I can even take my "home" phone into work if I'm expecting an important call there.
Pretty cool, huh? And did I mention it's cheaper than regular phone service? It probably wouldn't be the best idea for a largish house with lots of users, but there have been reports of people hooking up their entire house wiring to the Vonage box with some success.
I did have to pay a $30 "set-up" fee to Vonage, but I found someone online who was willing to "refer" me -- he gets a $40 credit, and so do I. Sayonara, Verizon.

Christina and I have been moving a few boxes per day, now that we have a key. About the most exciting thing I've done is to build a rough scale map of the house in Adobe Illustrator, which I then populated with scale diagrams of our furniture.Yep, yep... we're gonna have more room all right.
