Today I cancelled my hotel reservations for next week's Macworld Expo. It's not that I was holding out any hope of going, just that I never got around to letting the hotel know that they could give my room to someone else.
I guess if there were a year not to attend the Expo, this would be it. This second year of the technology slump has shrunk the exhibitors' list a bit. Adobe and Macromedia aren't even going to be in attendance (there go the really good freebies) and there's remarkably little chatter about the new stuff Apple might be unveiling. That might have something to do with the fact that most of the "rumors" sites are up in arms about being denied press passes to the show, or maybe we really are only going to get some souped-up G4s and a new version of OS X. Whoopee.
In the realm of not-Macs, I updated my home PC from Internet Explorer 5 to 6. I think the new Java-happy version of Yahoo mail was causing the entire Windows desktop to freak out and display a completely white screen. Fun, huh? It hasn't happened again since I installed v6. We'll see if it sticks. I hate these Personal Confusers.
