Still alive
Just busy beyond belief. Work has been the usual post-vacation crush and I made some goofy mistakes that haven't really made my boss happy. Working on relieving myself of the responsibilities of ordering printing supplies, because that duty bores me and so I don't do it very well. We keep running out of things like transparencies and everyone then acts like it's the end of the world. "Hey folks," I say, "There are transparencies for this other color printer over here!" But no, that would be something slightly out of the ordinary, so that's not a viable alternative.
I'm not bitter. Just making excuses.
Tonight Scott and I took a look at our operations for fulfilling book orders. We have some new software that manages inventory and generates invoices pretty well, but it's not the best for accounting. It was designed by some jerk of a programmer who seriously needs to read Apple's Human Interface Guidelines. But it may just do the things we need it to do, so it looks like we'll probably use it.
Speaking of Apple (again), they have a new marketing campaign called "Switch." Pretty neat ads. Christina's in a foul mood because the Powerpoint presentations we're putting together on the Mac don't open properly in Windows Office 2000. Well, that's one reason. There's also the conference she's going to next week that might get called off on account of raging wildfires. And the loads of laundry she did tonight at a laundromat that was doubtlessly crowded and annoying. I do love that woman.
New Orleans travelogue to come, when I catch my breath.
