• On Planet Suzie, anyone standing in the hallway is preparing to take the fishing pole down from the closet and play.
• On Planet Suzie, a person standing in the kitchen must be there to share his food. Doubly so if he is opening a can.
• On Planet Suzie, any given lap exists to provide better access to the dinner plate on the table in front of it.
• On Planet Suzie, lying down in bed and reading is merely an excuse to be in the proper position for the rubbing of a cat's belly.
• On Planet Suzie, if you are stupid enough to rub the cat's exposed belly, you have no right to complain when said cat's claws and teeth fold in on your hand like a bear trap.
• On Planet Suzie, any problem may be overcome by the instant and thorough application of an insistent howl. Repeat if necessary.
Spices from the home of B-Fest
My box of spices from The Spice House arrived today. This spice retailer has a home base in Evanston, IL, which is also where B-Fest is held. This may be why I ordered from them instead of Penzey's. Or maybe it's because everybody orders from Penzey's (the ladies on the Good Eats yahoo group are forever going on about the place) and I have to be different and special.
Whichever, TSH did a really nice job and I got some great stuff at a decent price. Their #1 China ginger was wafting up from under my desk all day, which was kind of pleasant. I mostly placed the order to get hold of some Dutch-processed cocoa powder, which has proven elusive at the nearby megamarts.
Also in the box was a bottle of fresh-cut thyme, some vanilla sugar (yum), and their Old World meat seasoning, which smells great. I'm thinking it will liven up those turkey burgers that have been staring at me from the freezer.
New York, New York
I got my boss (Rob) to concede that kind of, sort of, maybe there was a way I could get to New York this summer for the Macworld Expo. Money is really tight this year, and though I usually go to the summer Expo on Manhattan, things are looking bad for this year's trip. Looks like I need to kick ass this spring. Or is that kiss ass?

Speaking of New York, here's a plaque from one of the benches in Central Park. Every once in a while I'll remember it and think: Who the hell is Grandpa Cheese? Is he related to any of the McDonald-land characters?
