Welll......

So Keith and Reggie got in line this morning at 6AM. Jen and I joined them in line at 8 or so.

The order of the day was this: Wait outside in the rain....wait here in the basement of City Hall...wait on the steps coming out of the basement, wait here in this nice pretty hallway. We got to within 10 yards of the clerk's office, and....4 PM came. They closed the clerk's office for the day, and won't be open tomorrow. So close, yet so far away.

We were close enough, however, to get Keith and Reggie an appointment to get their marriage license and civil ceremony on Monday at 8AM. So, assuming we can get the flight changed, we're here for an extra day.

We'll blog in more detail soon.

Here's mud in your eye, Dubya

At 9 o'clock this morning, my boss Keith called me to ask me what I knew about the marriage licenses being issued to same-sex couples in San Francisco. Fast forward to 8:45 PM, and Jennifer and I are slated to accompany Keith and his partner Reggie to Frisco tomorrow to witness their marriage. Talk about your last minute travel arrangements.

Our flight leaves at 5:40PM tomorrow. Thank you parents for the cat care, and thank you Amy for being willing to jump in and help. We'll do our best to blog from the road.

The Plot Thickens

This afternoon, as we were returning home from a visit to Margaret Dickerson, we encountered the scene above. There were cars parked on every sidestreet for half a mile around. Be interesting to see how it all plays out.

Meanwhile, Margaret is still looking good, though her mind, at 90, is beginning to wander a bit. She told us that her roommate "sure is a funny-looking thing" about 10 times during a one-hour visit. Margaret's lonely and bored, so if you have time to send her a card, I'm sure she would enjoy it. Her address is Canterbury Court, 3750 Peachtree Rd. NE, Atlanta, GA 30319
