Here's where we are right now. Mike also put the windows and doors in the upstairs part of the addition. Next week is rest of the kitchen tearout so he can build the new walls, plus if the weather will cooperate, the pouring of the rest of the concrete slab beneath the deck.
Once the kitchen is framed in, Home Depot comes in to measure for cabinets, then we wait for those to be fabricated.
I apologize for the interruption of photos of the addition progress, but now that the basic framing is done, progress is not so visible or dramatic as it was. The weather has been horrible, too. Mike wants to get the grading contractor back to shape the terrain for the remaining concrete work around the foundation, but the rain has been almost constant. Meanwhile he is working on the new stairs to the lower level and will be tearing out the kitchen wall sometime this week, perhaps as early as today. On Thursday they will install the upstairs heat pump for the new heating/AC system. To accommodate that, Mommy and I spent a good part of our weekend clearing out one of the closets in the office where they're going to go through to install the unit. Roofing of the new area should also take place when things dry out a little bit.
