Job Search in Final Days

I just got back from my fall break trip to Washington, D.C. for job interviews. I had five "callback" interviews, which each consisted of four to seven 30 minute individual interviews at the firms offices. I had two on each day on Wednesday and Thursday, so I had 10 individual interviews with different level partners and associates on those days. I would love to say that I have pictures to post, but since most of what I saw was office buildings and the inside of my hotel room, I don't think they would be terribly interesting even if I had them.It was actually pretty fun for what it was, but I'm glad it's over.

I have received one job offer for the summer from this week of interviews and may hear from a couple of other firms in the coming week. I would actually be fine if I didn't get any other calls because the firm that offered me a job was among my favorites. If anyone's interested, I'll fill you in on the details this coming weekend. Also, I"m sure Sarah would love to talk about wedding stuff...

Right now I have to go work on law journal stuff which was popped on me last night by my roommate and immediate supervisor for one of my journal projects.

Yikes!
There's a crew out here this morning gleefully tearing off all siding on the back and sides of the house. The plans call for replacing the hodgepodge of siding we have with consistent concrete-board stuff on the whole house. All the noise and vibration has the cats freaked. They're either eating compulsively or cowering on the bed.
Here's a shot taken this morning. They've got the floor joists for the second story installed and have put a deck on top of that to work from and to eventually be the floor base of the new family room.

This will look a lot different by the end of the day. Note that the upstairs balcony is now mostly gone.

Well, I finally got out and explored the city a lot this past weekend when Simon came into town. Ate some beignets, walked around the french quarter, had a picnic in Audubon Park, ate at Camellia Grill, went to the Bluebird Cafe, ate, ate, ate!! I also dragged Simon to the meeting of the Girl Scout troop I am co-leading with my town mom. On the walk back down Broadway, we saw this street name embedded into the cracked concrete.

I have decided we are going to tile 'Holland' like this into the new driveway :)

Anyway, I have been having quite a time adjusting, as I am sure all of you know. It doesn't help to always be out of town, but I am really trying to get to know more people. Only problem is liking them! I also applied for the Honor Board and the Dean's Student Advisory Council, but nobody wanted me--their loss. On the roommate front, Melissa sleeps only during the day, missing god knows how many classes. Hopefully she will be moving out within the next two weeks. Then I will have a single until they find someone else to shove in my room. Joy.

As always, I appreciate any support from you guys--thanks for everything so far. That is all my boring news for now. I can't wait to see everyone next weekend.

Change of Pace

Since there is no new construction progress to post, we are posting the daily bed scene in our room.

We had dinner with Geoffrey and Jen this evening -- lobster from the farmer's market. Now we're watching Trading Spaces.
