Well, it's finally official. Sarah and I are engaged. For all who are interested here's how it was done.

Yesterday I left before Sarah got up and left her a message to get ready and to check her e-mail after 10 am. I sent her a hallmark e-card which then led her to a webpage of instructions. The instructions told her to go to the local movie theater. She then had to get numbers off of the movie poster showtimes (e.g. Spy Kids 2, First showtime, third number). These numbers created a call number for a book in the Duke Law Library, where I had placed a map and instructions the day before. The map led her to the Sarah P. Duke Gardens, where she waited and then I came and proposed. I then led her to another part of the gardens where we had a picnic. Of course, during the time when Sarah was on her scavenger hunt I was running around like a chicken with its headcut off trying to get everything together.

After the picnic, something almost as exciting happened--we saw Jack Osborne. Apparently, Jack is going to be on an episode of Dawson's Creek next season and where do they film Dawson's Creek? Duke Univeristy. Sarah thinks she got a picture of him in passing, but we'll see. We did talk to an MTV cameraman briefly who said that some of the Duke footage will be in the first Osborne's episode starting (he thinks) in October.

Last night we went out to dinner with Albert, a friend of mine to celebrate the engagement and also his new NYC apartment, which is on Battery City Park with a view of the Statue of Liberty. What he doesn't know is that his apartment will soon be Chateau de Albert for innumerable friends.

We are having engagement photos taken on Wednesday so that Sarah can put a picture in the Paducah newspaper. Wooo-doggy.
