Nicholas and Sarah departed here at about 11:30. Sarah looked a bit less green than she did last night, and even managed to get a pancake down. It seemed as if they had a good time this week, despite the sudden illness.

Atlanta folks, look for them at about 7 tonight.

The big prom photo shoot was last night in our front yard. I'm sure Pamela will post something about the evening from the prommers' point of view. From the parents', it was a very pleasant couple of hours. There was lots of milling about in formal attire, flashes popping, make-up and pinned up hair. A group of the boys, led by Simon, chose long pin-striped zoot suits with hats your Uncle Guido might wear. There will be some pix up at Yahoo later today.

Toey, when you see Nicholas and Sarah today, ask them to give me a call on my cell (678-596-8570) some time today to talk about what's been arranged for this evening with Sarah's mother and stepfather. And about N&S's ETA in Atlanta.Hopefully Sarah's better enough to enjoy your pancakes.

Had a pleasant dinner with Nicholas, though Sarah has contracted some sort of stomach bug and stayed at the hotel to chug Pepto-Bismol. We'll see them in the morning on their way through to Atlanta.

Nicholas is in Bradenton today, enjoying a Spring Training game at McKechnie Field (the Pirates' stadium). They're going to soak up some sun today, that's for sure.

We're going to see them for dinner tonight, though we might have to drive down to Sarasota to meet them. They'll be driving up through St. Pete on their way home and might stop to see us for breakfast, especially if I make pancakes from scratch. (I offered after hearing Sarah in the background, saying "I want pancakes!"

Well, tomorrow is the big day--good old senior prom. There's only one problem--my pretty pretty princess dress was ugly ugly pressed by the dry cleaners and came back looking much worse than it did when I gave it to them. Mommy took it back and bitched them out, so we'll see whether they took her words to heart or took out their anger on my dress. No matter what, my hair and makeup will look good--Jen is coming over tomorrow to help me with all that.
Also, Transy wrote me today to inform me that I have recieved the Willy T. scholarship, which will be full tuition and $5,000/yr for National Merit. Don't worry, all those of you who have already bought plane tickets to New Orleans in anticipation--I'm still planning on going to Tulane. In fact, I'm leaving Sunday morning to visit Tulane and stay in a dorm for a couple of nights. it should be fun and I can be absolutely sure I want to spend the next four years of my life there (what am I saying?--of course I do!). Anyway, that's all that's going on here. Pictures from pre-prom-whatever will no doubt be floating about by tomorrow night--tune in to see whether I'm wearing my re-pressed (repressed?) gown or my bridesmaid's dress. Periwinkle's a good color for prom, right?

Hello All! As you know, I am returning to school this week, after spending 6 tough days on an island. We had a great time in Key West buzzing around on scooters (don't be too mad Geoffrey) and more than anything just relaxing. There were tons of spring breakers down there, but we stayed out of the craziness most of the time, opting to relax at Josh's posh house. The drive was extremely long, but not too bad when split between 4 people. It was well worth all the driving. The worst part of the trip is highway 1, which seems to never end. Today I got notice that I received a $750 scholarship from the school of business at Winthrop so that was exciting. Especially given the fact that the parents offered to put that cash into my pocket. Other than that things are pretty normal in ole Rock Thrill. Until next time...

Buzz around the office says that CBS Evening News will be at Clark & Washington (my employer, for those just tuning in) to do some sort of piece on rising bankruptcy rates. Apparently, we are now the number 1 bankruptcy firm in the country in sheer volume of cases. A dubious honor, if you ask me.

Uh-oh.

The Billy Joel/Elton John concert scheduled for tonight has been postponed. They haven't yet said when it will be rescheduled. Apparently Billy Joel is sick. Those screams you're hearing are coming from Sarasota.

Amy passes on this article about everyone's favorite Renfroe social studies teacher.

Nicholas and Sarah came through St. Pete last night and we went for grouper at Woody's Waterfront. Sarah discovered that fried is not the best way to enjoy that particular fish. (Blackened, my friends – blackened.) We let them blast a few maps at our place and lent them our Florida atlas before sending them on their way to Sarasota. They'll be in Tampa tonight for the concert at the Ice Palace ("Queens on Ice," I think Nicholas called it) and again on Wednesday for Busch Gardens. A lotta driving between Sarasota and Tampa, but it looks like their car can manage it. Can't be much fun for Nicholas though, since Sarah can't drive stick shift and she won't let Nicholas play the radio when she's trying to read.

The bowling shoes are awesome. I'll probably write about those in my own blog tonight.

Sarah Woolf died Saturday night. There will be a memorial service next weekend, which Pamela will miss because she's going to New Orleans for a visit to Tulane. She talked to the girl who is going to host her on the phone last night and they're very excited she's coming, so it sounds like she'll be greeted warmly. She's also supposed to hear from Transy this week about the Willy T. so it should all start coming together soon.

Meanwhile we're trying to figure out what we need to do to get the van repaired, taxes done (or extensions granted) and a myriad of other chores done. It was supposed to slow down after the wedding, or at least after G&J's move, but so far it hasn't. Maybe next year . . .

The weather seems to be warming up enough to work a bit in the garden, if I can get away from the computer on the weekends. We bought a couple of new and interesting conifers for the front garden, and some new hellebores (Lenten Roses). I also bought a new and healthy-looking rosemary plant at Home Depot a couple of weekends ago. I left it outside and damned if it didn't freeze and make that poor plant wilt in a minute. It looks like it might recover, but it sure doesn't look healthy any more!

Beware all Hollands at Points South. The northern contingent has now left the building and is headed down I-75 in your direction. They left at almost exactly 9 a.m. with MapQuest in hand, and come bearing gifts.

Jennifer and Geoffrey hosted a dinner at their new apartment last night for the six of us (Pamela was out with Simon) and we had a very pleasant time. They've got themselves unpacked in record time (everything under control but the clothes, they report). Jennifer and her sous-chef did a great roast beef and a wonderful mushroom and onion tart, as well as an asparagus and green bean medley.

The Decatur High basketball team lost its final championship game, but they played well, and at this point Shannon Woolf is hardly conscious from pain medication. I'm up to my elbows in taxes and am going to have to ask for an extension on the corporate return. But since we didn't make any profit last year, we shouldn't owe them much.
